چکیده

background helicobacter pylori (h. pylori) infection is common among humans and plays a major role in the etiology of peptic ulcer disease with significant morbidity in patients with hiv-1 on antiretroviral therapy. there are conflicting prevalence patterns of h. pylori in hiv-1 infected patients using various methods of detection. the noninvasive technique used for detection of h. pylori infection is inexpensive and convenient with no complications. materials and methods we aimed to determine the prevalence of h. pylori infection among patients infected with hiv-1 on antiretroviral therapy using h. pylori stool antigen. 139 patients infected with hiv-1 were recruited, stool samples were collected and the h. pylori stool antigen (hpsa) test was used to detect h. pylori antigen. results 46.8% of the respondents were positive for h. pylori and 53.2% were negative, 18 (13%) were men and 47 (33.8%) were women. hpsa is a relatively simple, inexpensive, and time-saving non-invasive test for the detection of h. pylori infections in patients infected with hiv-1. conclusion we also observed that the prevalence of h. pylori was low in these patients compared with the general population. however, more studies using h. pylori stool antigen test are needed in these patients in the north-central, nigeria to further evaluate the infection rate.

Determination of Helicobacter pylori Antigen in Stool Samples and Comparison with Rapid Urease Test in Patients Suspected of Helicobacter Infection

Background and Aims: Helicobacter pylori (H. Pylori) is the microorganism that infects nearly half of word's population. There are several invasive and non-invasive methods for diagnosis of infection. The main objective of this study was to evaluate antigen of H. Pylori in feces with H. pylori stool antigen (HpSA) test and comparison with rapid urease test (RUT) in the patients suspected to be ...

Accuracy of Helicobacter pylori stool antigen for the detection of Helicobacter pylori infection in dyspeptic patients.

AIM The premier platinum Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) stool antigen (HpSA) test is an enzyme immunoassay (EIA) that detects an H pylori antigen present in human stools. However, at present there is no uniformity about the cut off level required to consider the test as positive or negative. So we need the cut off level for our local population. The aim of this study was to evaluate the HpSA fo...

Diagnostic Accuracy of Polyclonal Stool Antigen for Detection of Helicobacter Pylori Infection in Children

Introduction: Helicobacter pylori infection has various clinical features. One of the most common presentations of this infection is upper abdominal pain. Complications such as gastritis, gastric ulcer, gastric carcinoma and MALT lymphoma mandate early diagnosis of H.P infection by a low cost and non invasive manner. The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic role of H.P stool antige...

Detection of Helicobacter Pylori Diagnostic Antigens in the Stool of Infected Patients

Background: Some antigens of H. pylori are excreted into the stool of infected people. These antigens can be used to detect the infection by immunoassays such as ELISA. Our aim was to identify these antigens by immunoblotting and affinity chromatography techniques. Methods: Four different antigenic preparations, namely, whole cell sonicate (WCS), outer membrane proteins (OMPs), cytoplasmic anti...

Low Prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection evaluated by stool antigen test in preschool and school children

The study evaluated the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection in toddlers using the stool antigen test. Helicobacter pylori was detected in 28/113 (13.1%). Crowding and age were risk factors significantly associated to the infection. We conclude there is a low prevalence of the infection in the studied children.

Current role of Helicobacter pylori stool tests.

Helicobacter pylori stool tests are an accurate and noninvasive tool to assess H. pylori status before and after treatment. We are convinced that the current technical shortcomings of H. pylori stool tests, i.e. inter-test variability and reduced specificity after treatment, can be overcome in the near future. The availability of an office-based stool test would offer a considerable advantage s...
